Linemen Test Skills in Competition

Snapping Shoals EMC linemen recently competed with linemen from across the state at the Georgia Lineman's Rodeo in Fort Valley.
The team of CHris Harper, Byron Burke and J.C. Bradshaw competed against 24 teams in the journeyman division.
Bowen Braswell, Justin Cole, Dakota Conner, John Hawkins, Dustin James, Dustin Johnson, Dustin Kerbow, Caleb Nix, Hunter Norman, Cameron Leach and Josh Monsrud competed in the Apprentice Division. Monsrud placed fifth overall among 96 total apprentices.
Don Ritchey, SSEMC's Senior VP of Line Services, competed in the rodeo as a Senior Team member alongside his retired SSEMC employee Victor Hurst, and Hurst's brother, Brett, who is a Jackson EMC employee.
Russell Nelms and Randy Nixon served as coaches while Ray Cheek, David Ford, Keith Higgins, Neil Johnson, Jamie Nash, and Phil Phillips served as judges with Cody Hall assisting the judges. Bobby Fincher serves on the Georgia Lineman's Rodeo Association committee.
The Georgia Lineman's Rodeo gives linemen an opportunity to showcase the skills that are necessary and essential to restore power in the electric utility business.
