Who We Are
Snapping
Shoals Electric Membership Corporation is a non-profit, consumer-owned
cooperative headquartered in Covington, Georgia. We provide electric
service to about 74,000 residential, commercial and industrial consumers
in an eight-county area southeast of Atlanta. Our service territory
covers parts of Rockdale, Henry, Newton, DeKalb, Butts, Walton,
Jasper and Morgan counties.
Snapping
Shoals EMC has been serving this area for 65 years, and during that
time has built a strong reputation for providing reliable power
and excellent customer service. Our roots go back to the 1930s and
the early days of America´s rural electrification. In those
days, just trying to bring power to rural areas was a major undertaking.
Today, Snapping Shoals serves some of the fastest growing areas
in our nation, and most of our once-rural service territory is now
part of metro Atlanta.
In
addition to experiencing tremendous growth, we are also undergoing
transitions as a result of changes that are taking place within
the electric utility industry. At Snapping Shoals, we are taking
important steps to ensure that we can keep pace with the growth
and change while remaining firmly committed to providing superior
service and fair prices for our consumer-members. Toward that end,
Snapping Shoals Energy Management Company
was created as a means of expanding our services and strengthening
our relationship with consumers.
