The Snapping Shoals Electric Trust Board, which oversees the use of Operation Round Up funds, awarded $10,000 to Henry County Special Olympics in 2023. The funds helped the organization’s two softball teams travel to the Team USA North American National Softball Championships in Lynchburg, Va.

The Traditional Team came home with the silver medal, and the Unified Team came home with the bronze medal. The teams collectively played 17 games against teams from Canada, Maryland, Texas and Florida.   

 Terry Nash, Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator for Henry County Special Olympics, said of the donation, “We appreciate (SSEMC) so much and thank you once again for the great opportunity for our athletes and partners.”
